CONVERSATION IS A SKILL

BY COACH SILVIA

Have you ever find yourself in a conversation where it feels like the other person is just organizing their thoughts with no clear direction in front of you?

It can be quite frustrating, and the truth is, we've all been guilty of this at some point. So, how can we ensure our conversations are purposeful and engaging?

Before starting a conversation, it's important to frame it with a clear purpose and objective in mind. This will help guide the direction of the discussion and ensure that both parties are on the same page.

One way to do this is by preparing a few distinct statements related to the topic at hand. These statements can serve as conversation starters and help create interest in the other person. Then, follow up with a question to give them space to share their thoughts and engage in a meaningful dialogue.

By approaching conversations with intention and discipline, we can ensure that our interactions are not only productive but also enjoyable for everyone involved.

In conclusion, when approaching a conversation, consider these three statements:

  1. I want to understand your perspective on this issue,

  2. I believe we can find a solution that benefits everyone involved, and

  3. I'm open to exploring new ideas and approaches.

So, next time you find yourself in a conversation, remember to frame it with purpose and watch how it transforms the way you connect with others.
